2010 Black Nail Brigade EPIC Ride & Rally

Posted: Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

May 1, 2010

Ride with us in memory of my mom, Anita Zaffke, killed May 2, 2009, in “The Nail Polish Crash” by a driver who was painting her nails while driving.

We will be kicking off MOTORCYCLE & BICYCLE AWARENESS MONTH and honoring all loved ones lost due to the negligent & reckless driving of other motorists in a massive SHARE THE ROAD RALLY after the ride.

————————————————–

In 2006, my mother embarked on her Epic Ride. By herself, she rode her motorcycle for 2 weeks + 5,000 miles, camping, writing her book + taking photographs the whole way, through Yellowstone, up the Oregon Coast through Seattle to Vancouver, BC & back home to Chicago.

She had so much fun on that trip, I can’t think of a better way to honor her & all loved ones lost under similar circumstances than with the biggest, most epic memorial ride + awareness rally ever!

————————————————–

All makes & models of MOTORCYCLES, CYCLISTS & even conscientious CAR + TRUCK drivers are welcome so invite as many people as you can! Parade of cars/trucks will go first, bikes will follow.

52-Mile Main Ride:
Delavan, WI through the Nail Polish Crash site to Lake Zurich, IL.

Registration & Staging – 10:00AM to 12:00PM
Kickstands Up & Wheels Rolling – 12:00PM
Awareness Rally + Concert – 2:00PM to 6:00PM

Benefit for Michael “Joker” Bending

Posted: Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

October 24, 2009
3:00 pmto11:00 pm

Our friend Michael Bending was in a very serious motorcycle accident on July 12, 2009. He was hit by a motorist that was changing lanes and did not see Michael and his eight year old daughter on the motorcycle. At the time of this letter, Michael has had two brain surgeries and is on a ventilator to help him breathe, along with his multiple other injuries. His daughter is recovering well and is now at home with mom. Due to the extent of Michael’s injuries, it will be quite awhile before he will be able to support himself or his family again.

Michael “Joker” Bending has worked for over 20 years to help in the success of the Chicagoland Toys For Tots Motorcycle Parade. He is an active member and has also worked with the Illinois Motorcycle Freedom Run and A.B.A.T.E. organizations as well. Michael has always been very generous with his time, energy and donations when there is a worthy cause. Now, Michael is in need of our help.

We will be holding a benefit for Michael on October 24th, 2009 at VFW Post #6863, 7254 W. 63rd Street, Summit, IL 60501 from 3pm to 12am. We hope to pay Michael’s mortgage for as many months as possible, and defray as many of his other bills as we are able. We are asking for any donation you could make toward this cause. Either a cash donation or merchandise that we could put into a raffle would be most gratefully appreciated. We would like to ensure that Michael is able to return to his home after what will be a lengthy hospital and rehabilitation stay.

Thank you from the Allgire Family

Posted: Monday, July 20th, 2009

Hello Tim and all other “Angels”,

It has just been three months since Chris was on his way to North Judson to attend The Blessing of the Bikes. He never made it there, as Jim from Unchained said, he went on to a bigger and better Blessing. I have been trying to write a Thank-You to all the people that came out and helped cut up and move all the wood from the front of our home to the back. It was quite an under taking! ‘Angels’ from all different groups came (CMA Riders, Unchained Gang) and gave of their time and helped cut up and move everything out of the front of the house and stacked what we did cut in the back of the yard. We have heated our home with wood for the past few years and a local tree company would leave lots of trees in our front yard and the city only gave us a certain amount of time to remove it or we would get a fine for Blyth. They worked very hard for the whole day and they were wore out they finally called it quits. But the front yard was CLEAR ! They were definitely ‘angels’ to me that day.

I really needed some legal help but had no way to pay for it. Tim from the Moto-Angels connected me to some more “Angels”, the Law Tigers. They helped me get the insurance company paper work straight and the mortgage company problems worked out that I just couldn’t get through and they are still helping with the accident. I can’t say enough about them. They are top notch attorneys and they know their stuff!

But it didn’t stop there ! My birthday was the following month and behind my back with the help of my niece and my son, Tim once more put more angels in my life!  He put together a day at the Jean Marie Salon & Spa for me and my sister. The ladies at the Salon were wonderful. They were very patience with me. ( I’m still crying a lot ).

I’m just taking it day by day, trying to carry on like he would have wanted me to. I wanted to write this elegant letter explaining everything in detail that everyone has done for me, because I was so overwhelmed with the out pouring from the Moto-Angels Organization, the giving and the caring and love. Instead this is a simple letter straight from the heart. I can never repay any of you for the blessings that all of you have given to me and my family.

I don’t know if I’ll ever ride again, I’d like to. But in time I’d like to be part of your Moto-Angel Group.

Thank You

Laurell Allgire

Allgire Family – Log Cutting/Splitting

Moto-Angel Volunteers Needed for Family in Need

On April 18th, Chris Allgire was struck and killed on his motorcycle on his way to a Bike Blessing in Portgage IN. He leaves behind a wife and 3 Foster children. Laurell Allgire, Chris’ wife, has a yard full of logs that were just recently deposited there by the tree service which need to be cut and split because this is what they use to heat their home during the winter months. Because she is a Foster Parent, neither her, nor her children are allowed to operate any machinery and the City is giving her a hard time to get the logs in her yard taken care of. They have 2 log splitters, one large and one small, but the large one is broken.

We are calling for Volunteers who would like to help and have chainsaws and/or log splitters to help in the processing of these logs into firewood for the family.

If you are interested in volunteering your time and services, please RSVP at: tim@moto-angels.org for more information.

RIDE OUT MEETUP:

When: Saturday, May 9th
Where: 15259 Olympic Lane, Lockport IL 60441
Time: 8:30am – Departure
I will be driving a work van so I can haul chainsaws, wheelbarrows, etc. and will be providing at least 2 chainsaws and 2 wheel barrows.

DESTINATION: 5302 Stone Ave., Portage IN ~ approx. 9:15am-ish

Bob Metzger Benefit

Posted: Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

March 29, 2009
3:00 pmto7:00 pm

On October 26, 2008 life changed for Bob Metzger. Bob was involved in a serious accident while riding his motorcycle. He sustained serious head and face injuries.

By the grace of God he is still with us, the doctors did a miraculous job putting Bob back together. Yet he still is unable to work and there are lingering medical problems from the accident, this combined with mounting medical bills has (as you can imagine) made times hard for Bob and his wife Chris.

Bob is an Army Veteran and served for 9 years, he was deployed in Operation Desert Storm. Please join us in wishing him a full recovery and in letting him know that we care by attending this fund raiser.

Click here for the Bob_Metzger_Benefit flyer.
