On June 11, 2009 Phil Minahan was struck and killed on his motorcycle after he collided with an auto that turned in front of him in South Chicago Heights, authorities said.

Phillip Minahan, 35, of the 1400 block of Crooked Creek Drive in Beecher, was declared dead at 3:05 a.m. at St. James Hospital and Health Centers in Chicago Heights following the crash, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Minahan was riding a motorcycle south on Chicago Road in the south suburb when a northbound vehicle driven by a 24-year-old man tried to turn left into a gas station parking lot at 28th Street and Chicago Road at 2:47 a.m., said South Chicago Heights Police Chief William Joyce.

Phil leaves behind a 3 month old daughter, Brooklyn. The Benefit Memorial Run is taking place to aid in the care of his new daughter and will take place starting at the Throwback Bar & Grill in Crete, IL at 10:30am
