~ What We Do

Fallen-Rider Fund
The purpose of The Fallen-Rider Fund is to provide assistance and support to the families that have lost a primary caregiver in a motorcycle related fatality. Every year there are countless motorcycle related fatalities that shatter the lives of families and children. For each and every fallen brother and sister on the road, our hearts go out to their families, and our Fallen-Rider Fund is set up to provide assistance to them in their difficult and painful time of transistion.

If you have experienced the loss of a primary caregiver to a motorcycle related fatality within the last 12 months, or know of a family that has, please contact us at: fallenrider@moto-angels.org

General Rider Fund
The purpose behind the General Rider Fund is to be available to provide assistance to those in need, beyond just that of fallen-riders. If you’ve even heard of Random1 (www.Random1.com) their vision has helped to shape ours, but the underlying premise is to identify opportunities to provide assistance to riders in need and initiate the process of facilitation between those in need and those in a position to provide assistance.

How we do what we do…
We are often asked “how do you help those in need?”  There is no simple answer for that question since what we do for those we help depends upon the needs of those we’re helping. Each ‘case’ or family/rider we help is as unique as the individuals themselves, and how we help them greatly depends upon their needs. But as a rule, we are a hands-on sstyle organization that believes that the value in helping others in greatly increased by connecting with them on a human level vs. just a financial one.  To illustrate this, allow us to provide two examples out of the many families we’ve helped:

Case #1:  In this instance a rider, who was also the primary caregiver, was killed and left behind a wife and three foster children. In this particular case, the family lived by such modest means that they heated their home with a wood burning stove. Unfortunately the husband who was killed had not been able to split any wood for the upcoming winter and the city this family lived in was about to start issuing fines because of the tree stumps and logs that had been dumped by a tree service in the families yard. Furthermore, as a foster family, the wife or children were not allowed by the State to operate any dangerous machinery they might lose their foster children.

The Moto-Angels stepped in and organized wood-splitting event in which dozens of volunteers from a variety of motorcycle clubs turned out with chain-saws and log-splitters. In the course of a single day, more than 7 full cord of wood was processed and cleared from their yard. In addition, the Moto-Angels also arranged pro-bono legal assistance for the wife to aid her in navigating the difficult and confusing process of settling the estate and affairs of her deceased husband. But our help didn’t stop there. Three weeks after the husbands death, on the wife’s birthday, the Moto-Angels arranged for a ‘Mental Health’ day for the wife and her best friend which included a full say spa treatment. The wife awoke in the morning to find a donated limosine awaiting her for depature to the Jean Marie Salon, in Lockport, IL where she enjoyed a massage, maniucure, pedicure, facial and trim/style, all of which was donated by the owner of Jean Marie, Angie Tomky.

Case #2:  In this instance a rider, who was an adult with children that lived outside the home, was killed and left behind a husband and adult son. In memory of the Rider, the father and son set out to establish their own non-profit organization to raise awareness and give a voice to those killed by the negligence of others.

The Moto-Angels continues to work with this father and son, and their organization in any way it can ranging from providing financial assistance to their non-profit cause to working with them to jointly promote their organization and raise awareness. This organization has co-exhibited under the auspices of Moto-Angels at both the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and the International Motorcycle Shows and we will continue to support them in any way possible to aid them in raising awareness for their cause.
